Thermal Break Steel Door Frames

Specialized frame designed with a non-metallic barrier (thermal break) that separates the interior and exterior steel components. This construction significantly reduces heat transfer, minimizes condensation, and improves energy efficiency, making it ideal for use in exterior openings where temperature differences between indoor and outdoor environments are significant.

Fire Rating:

N/A

Standard Compliance:

ASTM A653-B

Supplied with self-aligning tabs and slots to lock corners. Thermal break knocked-down frames are welded by the customer on installation.

Key Features

Thermal Barrier

Incorporates a non-metallic insulating material between the interior and exterior steel components to interrupt heat flow and reduce thermal bridging.

Condensation Control

Minimizes surface condensation on the interior face of frames in cold climates by keeping interior surfaces warmer and reducing moisture buildup.

Energy Efficiency

Significantly improves U-value performance of exterior openings, helping to lower heating and cooling costs and meet modern energy code requirements.

Durable Construction

Maintains the structural integrity and strength of traditional hollow metal frames while adding energy-saving benefits, suitable for demanding commercial environments.

Important Information and Disclaimers

Fire Rated Frames
Fire-labelled frames will be provided for those openings requiring fire protection ratings, as determined and scheduled by the architect. Such products have been tested in strict conformance with CAN4-S104, ASTM E152 or NFPA 252 as listed by a nationally recognized agency having a factory inspection service, in conjunction with the Canadian Steel Door Manufacturers Association, and will be constructed as detailed in the follow–up service procedures.
Frames will be blanked, reinforced, drilled and tapped for mortised template hardware. Mortised cut-outs will be protected with steel guard boxes (may be omitted on drywall applications). Frames will be reinforced, where required, for surface-mounted hardware. Drilling and tapping are to be done by others in the field, at the time of installation. Frames will be prepared for single stud rubber door silencers, three (3) per single door openings.
Unless specified otherwise the location of hinges, strikes and closer reinforcing will be All Steel Doors 2000 standard locations.
All frames should be thoroughly inspected upon receipt and all discrepancies, deficiencies and/or damages must be reported in writing to All Steel Doors 2000 within 3 days of receipt of shipment. All shipments are FOB All Steel Doors 2000. All damages incurred during shipment is to be claimed by the distributor directly from the freight carrier. Frames must be removed from any wrapping or covering and be stored in a protected location in an upright position, on wood sills or planks.
All frames must be set plumb, square and level at the correct elevation. Fire-labelled frames must be installed in accordance with NFPA 80, most current edition.
